Winterize your Electric Yamaha Golf Car
Winterize your Electric Yamaha Golf Car
Winter is coming, and if you’re not taking your electric Yamaha Golf Car down to warmer weather, you’ll have to winterize it and then place in storage. Here’s what you need to know before you pack away your Yamaha.
Clean your Electric Yamaha Golf Car 1. Use soap & water, degreaser and any other cleaning products of your choice to help you wash away any dried mud, sand, grime and dirt on the cart. 2. Clean the battery with water, or water + baking soda. Dry with cloth. 3. Check the connecting wires on the battery to locate any potential issues.
Winterizing your Electric Golf Car
1. Turn the key switch to the “off” position, remove the key and leave the forward/reverse switch in the “neutral” position during storage. 2. Place the tow/run switch in the “tow” position. 3. Check the water levels in each battery cell. If water is required, fill the cells to cover the plates, charge the set and then use distilled water to top off each cell. 4. Leave battery chargers plugged in during storage. 5. Inflate tires to proper pressure levels to help tires maintain their shape. 6. Check the batteries and charger monthly to maintain the correct water level in the batteries and to ensure the charger is operating correctly. 7. Check tire pressure and inflate to 18 to 20 PSI, or as called for in the owner’s manual. 8. Secure the golf car by placing wooden blocks behind the wheels. Do not lock the parking break, if you do the cable will stretch and make it less effective come spring.
